Walton is a small northern Indiana town positioned in Cass County. It is located 80 miles north of Indianapolis and 130 miles south of Chicago, Illinois. Walton is one of the smallest communities in Cass County, Indiana. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were 1,023 people living in Walton in 2016.

Walton is located in an area that was originally inhabited by Native American Indians. Once European-American settlers arrived, the Native Americans were driven out. Like many northern Indiana towns, it was the arrival of the railroad that brought life to Walton. In 1856, a post office was operating in the community. Walton is named in honor of Gilbert W. Wall, the founder of the community.
